Resources Baby!
Designing and developing for the internet can be an incredibly daunting process. The internet is such a electric and progressing beast that working along side it can be vigorous enterprise. That being said, designers and developers have banded together to create a community that encourages sharing knowledge and insight. As a student of web design, it is important to know that there are countless sites on the web that can be a font of information.
In terms of information, advice, and tutorials my favorite site has to be Lynda.com. This may be biased since my brothers actually worked at this business and were part of the team that designed and developed this site. However, the tutorials and classes they provide are so extensive and informative that even if I did not have family who used to work there, I’d still say this is in my top three favorite websites of all time.
If you go their site - www.lynda.com you are automatically brought into a world of learning. There are over 600 courses in software development and more than 700 courses in design, web development, and photography. Then when you are ready to take the next steps in your career, there are over 1,200 courses in business. They provide unlimited access to their incredibly extensive library from industry experts who excel at teaching difficult material. One of the best things about Lynda.com is their dedication to current trends - they want to make sure their “students” are informed about the latest developments.
I hear a lot about Lynda.com after I started taking classes at MCC. I didn't know that there were so many classes. It's so cool that your brothers actually worked there :)
