Resources Baby!

Designing and developing for the internet can be an incredibly daunting process. The internet is such a electric and progressing beast that working along side it can be vigorous enterprise. That being said, designers and developers have banded together to create a community that encourages sharing knowledge and insight. As a student of web design, it is important to know that there are countless sites on the web that can be a font of information. In terms of information, advice, and tutorials my favorite site has to be Lynda.com. This may be biased since my brothers actually worked at this business and were part of the team that designed and developed this site. However, the tutorials and classes they provide are so extensive and informative that even if I did not have family who used to work there, I’d still say this is in my top three favorite websites of all time. If you go their site - www.lynda.com you are automatically brought into a world of learning. There are over 600 co...

RSS?!

Before I saw this blog topic, I knew I had seen the term “RSS” before. However, I had no idea what this acronym actually stood for and what the term was used for. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Simply put, it’s an easy way to stay in touch with information that’s meaningful to you without having to necessarily browse or search for it on websites. XML stands for eXtensible Markup Language and is the code that writes the RSS. So what exactly does a RSS reader do? Basically, it’s a small software program that can collect and display headlines from numerous news sources and place them in a central location for your viewing pleasure. Essentially, instead of visiting five dif...

This Site is the Coolest!

The site:  http://www.feedmusic.com/#/ I spent some time researching different sites for this blog post, but when I came across Feed  I was really blown away. Feed is a digital security company specializing in protecting its users' data and ideas. While focusing mainly on music, the website design itself transcends boundaries. One of the most compelling aspects to this site is the truly creative mix of both animation and video. Once you first view the site, you are instantly immersed into a new type of user experience. Some of the ways this site differs from most sites is the truly unique scroll navigation. As you scroll down the site, the content loads in both vertical and horizontal directions. While this in itself is not a new innovation, the way the content loads is creative. You can scroll from one section to another as opposed to just clicking on the main navigation. It is worth mentioning that the site relies heavily on the user's interest in scrolling. One of ...
